TIME-CRITICAL LOGISTICS
ON BOARD COURIER
WHEN IT CANNOT WAIT, IT SHOULD NOT TRAVEL ALONE.
WHEN ONE SMALL ITEM CAN STOP AN ENTIRE OPERATION
Sometimes the most valuable shipment is not the largest one.
A missing aircraft component can keep an aircraft grounded. A semiconductor can interrupt a production line. A prototype may be needed for a critical test. A medical or laboratory shipment may be working against a strict deadline. A signed document may determine whether a transaction proceeds.
When the operational cost of delay becomes greater than the cost of transport, conventional logistics may no longer be the right solution.
An On Board Courier service is designed for precisely those situations.
WHAT IS AN ON BOARD COURIER?
An On Board Courier — also known as OBC or hand-carry — is a dedicated professional assigned to personally accompany a time-critical shipment through its journey.
Rather than moving through multiple conventional freight handling stages, the shipment remains under closely coordinated supervision, with routing selected around the required delivery deadline and applicable airline, customs and security requirements.
MISSION REVIEW
Shipment, route, deadline, documentation and handling requirements are reviewed before movement begins.
FASTEST SUITABLE ROUTING
Available commercial flight options are evaluated against timing, customs and operational requirements.
PERSONAL ESCORT
A dedicated courier accompanies the shipment throughout the air journey and
coordinated transfers.
DIRECT HANDOVER
The consignment is delivered to the agreed recipient or handover point with clear mission completion.
WHY COMPANIES USE OBC
WHEN EVERY HOUR HAS A COST
OBC is not designed to replace conventional freight. It is designed for the moments when conventional freight is no longer fast, controlled or predictable enough.
01 — SPEED
MINIMUM TRANSIT TIME
Routing is built around the earliest viable movement rather than conventional freight schedules.
02 — CONTROL
DEDICATED SHIPMENT SUPERVISION
A dedicated courier personally accompanies and coordinates the shipment throughout the mission.
03 — SECURITY
FEWER HANDLING POINTS
Reducing unnecessary transfers can reduce exposure to misrouting, loss or handling delays.
04 — CONTINUITY
PROTECT CRITICAL OPERATIONS
Urgent delivery can help prevent extended aircraft downtime, production interruption or missed operational deadlines.
INDUSTRIES WHERE TIME REALLY MATTERS
Across global supply chains, relatively small shipments can carry enormous operational value.
AEROSPACE & AOG
Aircraft components, tooling and technical parts required to return aircraft to operation or maintain production schedules.
AUTOMOTIVE & MANUFACTURING
Components, prototypes and production-critical parts required to prevent or recover line-down situations.
SEMICONDUCTORS & HIGH-TECH
Sensitive components, wafers, prototypes, electronics and technology required for production, testing or development.
LIFE SCIENCES & MEDTECH
Time-sensitive samples, medical equipment and eligible life-science materials requiring carefully coordinated transportation.
ENERGY & INDUSTRIAL
Critical components, tools and replacement parts needed at plants, industrial facilities or remote operating locations.
MARITIME & SHIP SPARES
Urgent vessel components and technical equipment needed to reduce port delays or operational downtime.
LEGAL & CORPORATE
Original documents, contracts and other confidential materials requiring controlled physical delivery.
FASHION, LUXURY & PROTOTYPES
High-value samples, unique items, event-critical pieces and prototypes travelling against fixed deadlines.

HOW VARELON AIR COORDINATES AN OBC MISSION
FROM URGENT REQUEST TO FINAL HANDOVER
01 - SEND THE MISSION
Tell us what needs to move, where it is located, where it must arrive and the required delivery deadline.
02 - FEASIBILITY REVIEW
Shipment, routing, documentation and applicable restrictions are reviewed.
03 - ROUTING & COURIER
Suitable flight options and an appropriately positioned courier are identified around the mission requirements.
04 - COLLECTION
The courier collects the shipment and proceeds according to the confirmed routing and documentation.
05 - FLIGHT COORDINATION
The shipment travels under dedicated supervision while progress and key milestones are coordinated.
06 - FINAL HANDOVER
The courier completes the agreed delivery or handover and mission completion is confirmed.
NOT EVERY SHIPMENT SHOULD TRAVEL OBC
OBC is highly effective when the shipment, routing and regulatory conditions make personal carriage practical. It is not automatically the right solution for every urgent movement.
Dimensions, weight, commodity, declared value, dangerous-goods classification, customs requirements, airline restrictions and destination regulations are considered before a mission is confirmed.
Where OBC is not appropriate, an alternative time-critical air solution may be required.
An On Board Courier is a dedicated traveller assigned to personally accompany a time-critical shipment through an agreed commercial-flight routing and final handover.
OBC is particularly suitable when the operational or financial consequence of delay is significant and conventional freight cannot meet the required deadline or level of supervision.
This depends on courier availability, shipment readiness, flight schedules, documentation, customs requirements and applicable travel restrictions. Each mission is assessed individually.
Not necessarily. The permitted transport method depends on shipment size, weight, commodity, airline requirements, security regulations and the confirmed routing.
Yes. But International routing may be coordinated subject to courier availability, travel documentation, customs requirements, airline acceptance and shipment feasibility.
OBC may be suitable for critical parts, documents, prototypes, electronics and other eligible time-sensitive items, subject to airline, customs and security requirements.
Yes. Mission progress can be monitored from collection through final delivery, with key status updates provided throughout the journey.
Alternative routing options can be reviewed and coordinated when disruption occurs, always subject to flight availability, airline acceptance and mission requirements.
Each mission is quoted individually based on routing, urgency, flight availability, courier positioning, shipment requirements and any necessary ground coordination.
